Five suspects were being questioned by Kampong Speu provincial Military Police at its headquarters on Monday after they were arrested the previous day in Oudong district’s Preah Sre commune on suspicion of being involved in selling other people’s land illegally.
Kampong Speu provincial court prosecutor Chat Soreaksmey collaborated in the arrests and provided legal assistance.
She told The Post on Monday that the five suspects were being interrogated by Kampong Speu provincial Military Police, but that she was not aware how many locations were involved in the case.
“Regarding the five suspects, I know they were involved in selling land, but I am not sure about the size of the land deals or the details. The Military Police have not sent them to the provincial court yet,” Soreaksmey said.
A Provincial Military Police report said four of the suspects were men and one a woman. The report said the woman is a 35-year-old garment worker who lives in Kandal province’s Ang Snuol district.
One of the male suspects is a 41-year-old employee of a local real estate company who lives in Kong Pisei district’s Chong Rok commune in Kampong Speu province, the report said.
The three other male suspects all hail from Phnom Penh and are a 59-year-old from Por Sen Chey district, a 38-year-old resident of Sen Sok district and a 32-year-old who lives in Sen Sok district’s Krang Thnong commune.http://www.phnompenhpost.com/national/five-arrested-kampong-speu-suspicion-illegally-selling-peoples-land
